From Border to Border, Ontario is Open for Business
Ontario’s Government for the People Promoting Business-Friendly Province
Brantford – Today MPP Will Bouma announced how Ontario’s Government for the People is sending a clear message to the world that the province is open for business, working hard to create good jobs and grow the economy in Brantford-Brant and across Ontario.
“We want everyone to know that Ontario is open for business,” said Bouma. “That’s why signs that say ‘Ontario is Open for Business’ will soon go up at border crossings across Ontario.”
Fulfilling an election promise, Premier Doug Ford recently unveiled the first of a series of “Open for Business” signs at the Blue Water Bridge Canada-U.S. border crossing in Sarnia, demonstrating to everyone entering Ontario that it remains committed to boosting prosperity, attracting investment and creating good jobs for the people in Brantford-Brant and across the province.
“We want to make it easy for businesses to invest in Ontario,” said MPP Bouma. “New signage at land border crossings throughout the province will tell the world that Ontario is business-friendly and is committed to reducing the unnecessary regulatory burdens that makes it difficult for workers to find jobs and local businesses to hire.”
MPP Bouma also highlighted how the government’s proposed Making Ontario Open for Business Act will, if passed, ensure workers have better access to career growth and good jobs, and will make it easier for Ontario employers to hire and grow their businesses.
“We know that job growth starts with removing the job-killing red tape that drives jobs and investment out of Brantford-Brant and other communities in Ontario,” said MPP Bouma. “We believe everyone deserves a shot at a job if they’re prepared to get to work.”
The act, if passed, will eliminate job-killing regulations that are inefficient, inflexible and out-of-date, while at the same time maintaining standards to keep Ontarians safe and healthy. It will include steps to modernize and transform Ontario’s skilled trades and apprenticeship system, making it easier for employers to keep up in training the skilled tradespeople that will be demanded by Ontario’s economy.
The act would also remove the worst burdens that prevent Ontario businesses from creating jobs, imposed by the previous government’s Bill 148, to help create more jobs and expand opportunities for workers.
“For too long, businesses in Brantford-Brant and across Ontario have been held back by unnecessary red tape, making it harder to hire talented people,” said MPP Bouma. “We will make Ontario open for business to create good jobs and help all families get ahead.”
