Ontario Budget 2025: Protect Ontario by Unleashing the Province’s Economy

Brant Community Healthcare System to receive the remainder of $12.5M Planning Grant

NEWS May 15, 2025

TORONTO — Will Bouma, MPP for Brantford-Brant, is pleased with the budget that was delivered today, May 15th, by Minister of Finance Hon. Peter Bethlenfalvy. Our government is delivering on our mandate to protect Ontario and help workers and businesses weather the storm while creating the long-term foundations for a strong, resilient and competitive economy.

Our government is investing approximately $56B over the next decade in health infrastructure.  This includes investing $103M in additional planning grants, which builds on Ontario’s ambitious plan to support 50 major hospital projects.  As part of this process, the Brant Community Healthcare System will receive the remainder of the $12.5M to advance the project planning to build a new acute care tower and non-acute ambulatory care building to address capacity issues, aging infrastructure, and increase the number of inpatient rooms.

“Our Province has been faced with challenges before, and we have always emerged stronger and more united as a result” said Minister of Finance, Hon. Peter Bethlenfavly. “Today, with the 2025 Budget: A Plan to Protect Ontario, we put forward a plan that reflects the government’s vision and the mandate that we received from the people of this great province to do whatever is necessary to protect Ontario workers, businesses and communities.”

The Ontario Budget was tabled today in the Ontario Legislature. If passed, this budget moves forward with an ambitious plan to protect Ontario by getting more shovels in the ground to build infrastructure and putting money back in people’s pockets while delivering better services the people of Ontario can count on.

“I would like to thank the community for coming together to help secure this planning grant which is a major milestone on the road to a new hospital”, said Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma. “Much still needs to be done on this critical project, and I look forward to supporting the Brant Community Healthcare System’s Board, management, medical professionals and support staff in the years to come”.

Ontario’s finances are in the strongest position they have been in over a decade, reflected by the two credit rating upgrades that the province received in 2024. The government’s plan remains prudent and responsible, and Ontario retains a path to balance the budget by 2027/28.
