Ontario Investing $75,000.00 in Six Nations Polytech

Indigenous Transportation Initiatives Fund helping support community-driven transportation projects across the Province

NEWS June 11, 2024

BRANTFORD — The Ontario government is investing $75,000.00 to help Six Nations Polytech, supporting accessible and free transportation services by providing more than 200 students with daily inter-campus transportation, stipends for academic placements and gas vouchers. The funding is being delivered through the Indigenous Transportation Initiatives Fund (ITIF) which helps support community-driven transportation-related projects for Indigenous communities and Indigenous people in urban and rural locations across the province.

“Having access to safe and reliable transportation is crucial for connecting people to schools, jobs, housing and other opportunities,” said Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma. “Our government will continue to provide funding that meets the individual needs of Indigenous communities and organizations across Ontario for generations to come.”

This year, the Ontario government is investing almost $675,000 through the ITIF to help support economic growth, mobility and transportation safety in Indigenous communities across the province.

“Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is building a stronger Ontario for everyone,” said Prabmeet Sarkaria, Minister of Transportation. “Through the ITIF, we are ensuring that Indigenous people can access everything they need like food, schools and medical appointments through reliable transportation.”
