Local Students Welcome Minister of Education and MPP<\/em><\/p>

May 26, 2021<\/strong><\/p>

BRANTFORD – Students and staff at King George Elementary School hosted Ontario Minister of Education, Stephen Lecce, who participated in a virtual classroom visit at the school today, accompanied by Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma.<\/p>

It was an opportunity for students to ask questions directly to the Minister, learn more about how government works, and to demonstrate the quality of learning during the pandemic.<\/p>

In this virtual Language Arts Class, the class focused on \u201cinferencing\u201d. The teacher shared with the students the clues and short letters that have been addressed to the students that she received from the \u201cmystery guests.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cI am so grateful to Ontario\u2019s students and education staff for leading by example during this pandemic,\u201d said Minister Lecce. \u201cWorking with these young leaders is an incredible source of pride and motivation. These engagements create opportunities to discuss issues of priority \u2014 from positive mental health to leadership development and the importance of the next generation of public service.\u201d<\/p>

\u201cI commend King George Elementary School on the work they\u2019re doing for the students in our community,\u201d said Brantford-Brant MPP Will Bouma. \u201cThey are the next generation to lead us and hearing about what\u2019s important to them at the grassroots level is critical in helping us plan for the future of our community.\u201d<\/p>

Grand Erie School Board Chair Greg Anderson said “that both the King George students and their teacher shone brightly today demonstrating how interactive and successful virtual learning can be.”\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cWe are very proud of our learning community at King George Elementary School. Our board staff, school trustees, school administration, and students were very excited to welcome the Hon. Stephen Leece and Member of Provincial Parliament Will Bouma to their virtual classroom,\u201d said JoAnna Roberto, Director of Education at the Grand Erie District School Board. \u201cThis visit proved to be a very engaging and memorable opportunity that students will remember for years to come.\u201d<\/p>
